Ah, seems like there is no plans for tonight, so I decided to move on to the second layer tone after being done with the first. There are so many lessons to be learnt today about doing multi tone stencils.
Firstly, newspaper sucks big time. Especially if your background is white. Then alot of those black stains from the ink will ruin alot of it. It seems I may have to touch it up alot after I’m done.
Secondly, it pays to get all your measurements right. The ENTIRE picture.
Anyway, enough about lessons. I’m quite happy that the second layer stencil measures up quite nicely though. All those hours cutting those details paid off. Getting excited on seeing it completed, though I’m mentally prepared to do it all over again. The one I’m doing now really is like a first try. But of course if it turns out good, then I wouldn’t need to make a second one.
I’m thinking, the next time, if it’s possible to print the whole picture out in it’s actual size layer by layer by matching up endless pages of A4 prints on one huge mahjong piece and then cutting it out. Then lacquer the mahjong piece front and back..
ok, I’m thinking aloud to myself, still welcome anyone to comment on that idea though.
